Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Zempire Helix Review
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Zempire Helix Review

Construction Zempire Helix Review
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Zempire Helix Review
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models seem right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Zempire Helix Review
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Zempire Helix Review
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.

The features of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to deliver options whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The pocketed coil unit should offer amazing edge support and movement transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped build.
