Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Who Sells Helix Mattresses
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Who Sells Helix Mattresses

Construction Who Sells Helix Mattresses
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Who Sells Helix Mattresses
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Who Sells Helix Mattresses
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Who Sells Helix Mattresses
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
