Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Where Is Helix Located

Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Where Is Helix Located

Construction Where Is Helix Located

All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Where Is Helix Located

Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.

Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Where Is Helix Located

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When getting a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Where Is Helix Located

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
