Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Construction Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.

The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.

Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel right, you may always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When getting a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
