Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. When U Helix
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. When U Helix

Construction When U Helix
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). When U Helix
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. When U Helix
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. When U Helix
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
