Keep on reading below for my full review of the Puffy mattress.
Construction Venice Soft Mattress
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Venice Soft Mattress
Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you are very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this section has a quick response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials has been especially chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Venice Soft Mattress
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any kind of transition foam implies that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you might want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I am not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify another movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a slight spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be too bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the evening.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit difficult to change positions. Venice Soft Mattress
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s good to note that you need to take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to completely adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of the mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Venice Soft Mattress
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anyone in search of a gentle, soothing mattress.
Though the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Venice Soft Mattress
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who are looking to receive all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark grey durable cloth that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it appropriate for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Venice Soft Mattress
