Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. The Helix Bed
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. The Helix Bed

Construction The Helix Bed
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different models (and hopefully have a model for everyone). The Helix Bed
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem quite right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. The Helix Bed
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. The Helix Bed
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
