Construction Soft Top Mattress Pad
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is incredibly thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this section has a fast response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials has been specifically chosen to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Top Mattress Pad
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any sort of transition foam implies that you are very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you might want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots might be, I placed a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to a great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt some pressure relief. I am not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a small spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be too bothered by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
While buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Soft Top Mattress Pad
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s good to note that you should make the most of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs several weeks to even months to fully adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so could be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Top Mattress Pad
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, calming mattress.
Though the memory foam is a big selling point of the mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Top Mattress Pad
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who want to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dim grey durable cloth that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for many different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers as the thick relaxation layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Top Mattress Pad
