Keep on reading below for my complete review of the Puffy mattress.
Construction Soft Sealy Mattress
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It features a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Soft Sealy Mattress
Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which usually means you are very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is incredibly thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you sleep.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a quick response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials has been specifically chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Soft Sealy Mattress
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating with a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. An absence of any kind of transition foam implies that you are likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important factor to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not overly surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for those who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify another movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite intriguing motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are unlikely to be too bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit tricky to change positions. Soft Sealy Mattress
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to be aware that you need to make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to completely adapt. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the company will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this allows for your mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Soft Sealy Mattress
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anybody in search of a gentle, soothing structure.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of the mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Sealy Mattress
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who want to receive all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits nicely to the mattress. It even has a rather appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dim gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give decent pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Sealy Mattress
