Construction Soft Pillow Top Mattress Cover
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It features a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a quick response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials has been specifically chosen to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Pillow Top Mattress Cover
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. An absence of any kind of transition foam implies that you are very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you may want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I am not overly surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Now, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to signify another movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
While buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you are very likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Soft Pillow Top Mattress Cover
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body about three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is a good idea to note that you need to make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty indicates that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this can be a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in each material of the mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Pillow Top Mattress Cover
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, soothing mattress.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Pillow Top Mattress Cover
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone that want to receive all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. It even has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it appropriate for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Pillow Top Mattress Cover
