Construction Soft Mattress Without Springs
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion meant to keep things cool and nice as you sleep.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a fast response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials has been especially selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Without Springs
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any sort of transition foam implies that you’re very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I’m not too surprised with this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for those who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize another movement you’re likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
While purchasing a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are very likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Soft Mattress Without Springs
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to be aware that you need to take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a brand new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adapt. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses conduction and convection to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam texture, so could be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Without Springs
And finally, this is one soft mattress, so could do wonders for anybody in search of a gentle, soothing mattress.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress Without Springs
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. It has a rather appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dim gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and contains motion isolation which makes it appropriate for many different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress Without Springs
