Keep on reading below for my complete review of the Puffy mattress.
Construction Soft Mattress Without Memory Foam
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a simple design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you are very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a quick response to pressure and is very firm. The combination of materials has been specifically chosen to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Without Memory Foam
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam coating with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any sort of transition foam implies that you’re very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to a great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt some pressure relief. I am not overly surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize another movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are not likely to be overly bothered by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Soft Mattress Without Memory Foam
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to be aware that you should make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to completely adjust. If for some reason you reach the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses conduction and convection to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is compact and supportive to make a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so could be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Without Memory Foam
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anybody in search of a gentle, calming structure.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of the mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress Without Memory Foam
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to receive all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a rather appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dim gray durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one will remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it appropriate for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
