Construction Soft Mattress That Supports
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.
Soft Mattress That Supports
Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion meant to keep things cool and nice while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a quick response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials was especially selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress That Supports
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. An absence of any sort of transition foam implies that you’re likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not too surprised with this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Now, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
While buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Soft Mattress That Supports
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to note that you should take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing errors. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this can be a mattress that the company will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses conduction and convection to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is compact and supportive to make a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this allows for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress That Supports
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, calming structure.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of the mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.

The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those who want to receive all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it appropriate for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress That Supports
