Construction Soft Mattress Sore Back
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things cool and nice while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a quick response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials has been specifically selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Sore Back
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any sort of transition foam implies that you’re very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you may want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which comes with an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in a fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I am not overly surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify another movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s turning and tossing in the evening.
When buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Soft Mattress Sore Back
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a sound, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body roughly three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adjust. If for some reason you reach the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty indicates that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the confidence that this can be a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and help keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this enables for your mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Sore Back
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anyone in search of a gentle, calming mattress.
Though the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.

The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to receive all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give decent pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it suitable for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress Sore Back
