The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you are likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is incredibly thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion meant to keep things cool and nice while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a fast response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials was specifically chosen to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Pillow Top
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any kind of transition foam means that you are likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which comes with an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I felt some pressure relief. I’m not overly surprised with this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to another.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify a different movement you are likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a slight spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you are not likely to be too disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
While buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you are very likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Soft Mattress Pillow Top
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a sound, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you need to take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to completely adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the assurance that this can be a mattress that the company is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in every material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses conduction and convection to release heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this allows for your mattress to maintain an ideal temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Pillow Top
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, soothing mattress.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress Pillow Top
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those who want to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It even has a very suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the look. The side panels are a dark gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give decent pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress Pillow Top
