Construction Soft Mattress Or Hard
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Soft Mattress Or Hard
Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds such as this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is incredibly thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has managed to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things cool and nice while you sleep.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a quick response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials was especially chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Or Hard
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. An absence of any sort of transition foam means that you are very likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in a fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not too surprised with this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to signify another movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer outcomes. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you are unlikely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you are likely to sink deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit difficult to change positions. Soft Mattress Or Hard
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to note that you should take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adapt. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this can be a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

After ordering your Puffy mattress,
you can expect it to appear on your doorstep within 2 to 5 days. The company offers free shipping via FED-EX to the contiguous 48 States and to most of the states in Canada. However, shipping to Hawaii and Alaska costs $150. In addition, the buyer will get a delivery number so he could monitor the delivery.
All Puffy mattresses are compressed into a tiny box sized 19″ x 19″ x 42″ to ensure easy and environment-friendly transfer. All you need to do is to move the box into your room and unroll the mattress. This makes moving into a new home incredibly easy — without the need to coordinate with a mattress store and waiting all day for a delivery truck. Remember that it could take a few hours for your mattress to expand fully after being in the box for some time.
Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is compact and supportive to make a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this allows for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Or Hard
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, soothing structure.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress Or Hard
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who want to receive all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It has a rather suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dim grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress too. Soft Mattress Or Hard
Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give decent pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers as the thick relaxation layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress Or Hard
