Construction Soft Mattress Newborn
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It features a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.
Soft Mattress Newborn
Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is incredibly thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a quick response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials was especially selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Newborn
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any kind of transition foam implies that you are likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not too surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize another movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite intriguing motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a slight spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be overly bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the evening.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re very likely to sink deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit difficult to change positions. Soft Mattress Newborn
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and create a sound, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to note that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs several weeks to even months to completely adjust. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the company will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this allows for your mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Newborn
And finally, this is one soft mattress, so could do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, soothing structure.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress Newborn
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that want to receive all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It has a very suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dim grey durable cloth that compliment the mattress too. Soft Mattress Newborn
Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide decent pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it suitable for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick relaxation layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress Newborn
