Construction Soft Mattress During Pregnancy
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds such as this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a quick response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials has been specifically chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress During Pregnancy
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any kind of transition foam implies that you are likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt some pressure relief. I am not overly surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to signify a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite intriguing motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are not likely to be overly bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
While buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Soft Mattress During Pregnancy
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to note that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adjust. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this can be a mattress that the company is going to stand behind.

Remember that it might take a couple of hours for your mattress to expand completely after being in the box for some time.
Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses conduction and convection to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so can be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress During Pregnancy
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, calming structure.
While the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress During Pregnancy
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to receive all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. It even has a very suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it appropriate for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress During Pregnancy
