Construction Soft Mattress Benefits
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Soft Mattress Benefits
Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which means you’re very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is incredibly thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool while you sleep.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a fast response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials has been specifically selected to bring targeted relief to the spine. Soft Mattress Benefits
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any sort of transition foam implies that you are likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I felt a few pressure relief. I am not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses which offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify another movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite intriguing motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you are not likely to be too bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the evening.
When buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Soft Mattress Benefits
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this allows for your mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Mattress Benefits
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, calming structure.
Though the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Mattress Benefits
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark gray durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Soft Mattress Benefits
Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Mattress Benefits
