Construction Soft Innerspring Mattress
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is incredibly thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a quick response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials has been especially chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Soft Innerspring Mattress
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any kind of transition foam means that you are likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots might be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt some pressure relief. I’m not overly surprised with this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses which offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you’re not likely to be too bothered by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you are likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit tricky to change positions. Soft Innerspring Mattress
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to be aware that you need to make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to even months to completely adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the company will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and help keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Soft Innerspring Mattress
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, calming mattress.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of the mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
