Keep on reading below for my full review of the Puffy mattress.
Construction Soft Bed Rest
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It features a simple design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Soft Bed Rest
Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you are likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. Although memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things cool and nice while you sleep.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a quick response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials was specifically chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Soft Bed Rest
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any kind of transition foam means that you are very likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in a fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt some pressure relief. I’m not overly surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Now, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to signify a different movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite intriguing motion transfer results. You’ll see a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are not likely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Soft Bed Rest
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you should make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to completely adapt. If for some reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Soft Bed Rest
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so could do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, calming mattress.
While the memory foam is a big selling point of the mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Soft Bed Rest
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone that are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a rather appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dim grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and includes motion isolation that makes it appropriate for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Soft Bed Rest
