Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Sleep Helix Piercing
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Sleep Helix Piercing

Construction Sleep Helix Piercing
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Sleep Helix Piercing
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options sound right, you may always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Sleep Helix Piercing
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Sleep Helix Piercing
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
