Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Real Helix Reviews
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Real Helix Reviews

Construction Real Helix Reviews
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Real Helix Reviews
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Real Helix Reviews
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Real Helix Reviews
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
