Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Rate Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Rate Helix Mattress

Construction Rate Helix Mattress
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Rate Helix Mattress
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Rate Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Rate Helix Mattress
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
