Construction Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It features a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a fast response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials was specifically selected to bring targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any kind of transition foam means that you are likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you may want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not too surprised with this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses that offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to signify a different movement you’re likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll notice a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
While purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit difficult to change positions. Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is a good idea to be aware that you need to make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to even months to fully adapt. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to make a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this allows for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam texture, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anybody in search of a gentle, soothing structure.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of the mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a rather appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide decent pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it suitable for all different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress offers proper body support and is a great selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Puffy Mattress Vs Lull
