Construction Puffy Mattress Trial
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It features a simple design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which means you are very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. Although memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this section has a quick response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials was specifically selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Trial
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any kind of transition foam means that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I’m not overly surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Now, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you are not likely to be too bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the evening.
While buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit tricky to change positions. Puffy Mattress Trial
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to be aware that you need to make the most of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to fully adjust. If for some reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of the mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this allows for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Trial
And finally, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anyone in search of a gentle, calming structure.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Puffy Mattress Trial
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone that want to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. It even has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the look. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide decent pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers as the thick relaxation layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Puffy Mattress Trial
