Construction Puffy Mattress Number
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It features a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is incredibly thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this section has a quick response to pressure and is very firm. The combination of materials was specifically selected to bring targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Number
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any kind of transition foam means that you are very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt a few pressure relief. I am not overly surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to signify another movement you’re likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll notice a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
While buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat tricky to change positions. Puffy Mattress Number
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you should make the most of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to completely adjust. If for some reason you reach the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing errors. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the assurance that this can be a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses conduction and convection to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and help keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this allows for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Number
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so could do wonders for anyone in search of a gentle, soothing mattress.
While the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.

Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it appropriate for all different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips.
