Construction Puffy Mattress Directions
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which means you are very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this part has a quick response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials has been especially chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Directions
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam coating with a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any sort of transition foam implies that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important factor to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I am not too surprised with this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll notice a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s turning and tossing in the evening.
When buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit difficult to change positions. Puffy Mattress Directions
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing errors. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the assurance that this can be a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses conduction and convection to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is compact and supportive to create a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All this allows for your mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Directions
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, calming structure.
While the memory foam is a big selling point of the mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Puffy Mattress Directions
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dim gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and contains motion isolation which makes it suitable for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Puffy Mattress Directions
