Construction Puffy Mattress Did Not Expand
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which means you are very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool while you sleep.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this section has a fast response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials was specifically selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Did Not Expand
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any kind of transition foam implies that you’re very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you might want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the outcomes on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I am not overly surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite intriguing motion transfer outcomes. You’ll notice a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you are unlikely to be too bothered by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
While purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are very likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Puffy Mattress Did Not Expand
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep foundation. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to be aware that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The foundation foam is compact and supportive to create a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Did Not Expand
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, calming structure.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Puffy Mattress Did Not Expand
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It has a rather appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dim gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one will remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation that makes it appropriate for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Puffy Mattress Did Not Expand
