Construction Puffy Mattress Company History
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It features a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you are very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. Although memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion meant to keep things cool and nice as you sleep.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a quick response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials was specifically chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Company History
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam coating with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any kind of transition foam implies that you are very likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
One other important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points will form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt a few pressure relief. I’m not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who usually opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Now, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify a different movement you are likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll notice a slight spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
While buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit difficult to change positions. Puffy Mattress Company History
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s good to be aware that you need to take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress has a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing errors. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the company is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of the mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that won’t allow you to sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an perfect temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Company History
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, soothing mattress.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Puffy Mattress Company History
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone that are looking to get all the advantages of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It even has a rather suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it appropriate for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Puffy Mattress Company History
