Construction Puffy Mattress Australia
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It features a simple design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you are very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this section has a quick response to pressure and can be very firm. The combination of materials was especially chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Puffy Mattress Australia
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any sort of transition foam means that you’re likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer texture, you might want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in a fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt a few pressure relief. I am not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to another.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is intended to signify another movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are unlikely to be too disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Puffy Mattress Australia
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is a good idea to be aware that you should make the most of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to even months to completely adapt. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This guarantee indicates that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the company is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is compact and supportive to make a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface where less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Puffy Mattress Australia
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, calming mattress.
While the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
