Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Picture Of Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Picture Of Helix

Construction Picture Of Helix
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Picture Of Helix
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Picture Of Helix
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Picture Of Helix
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
