Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Oceano Or Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Oceano Or Helix Mattress

Construction Oceano Or Helix Mattress

All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Oceano Or Helix Mattress

Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.

Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with different body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these options sound right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Oceano Or Helix Mattress

According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Oceano Or Helix Mattress

Helix Warranty

Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
