Construction New Puffy Mattress
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a simple design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.
New Puffy Mattress
Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you are likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. Although memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a quick response to pressure and is very firm. The combination of materials was especially selected to bring targeted relief to the spine. New Puffy Mattress
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any kind of transition foam implies that you are likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots could be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I am not too surprised by this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for people who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you’re not likely to be overly bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
When buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit difficult to change positions. New Puffy Mattress
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is a good idea to be aware that you need to make the most of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs several weeks to months to fully adapt. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty indicates that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this can be a mattress that the company is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is compact and supportive to make a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this enables for your mattress to maintain an ideal temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First of all, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam feel, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. New Puffy Mattress
And finally, this is one soft mattress, so can do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, calming structure.
Though the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress New Puffy Mattress
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those who are looking to get all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a very suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud pattern that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation that makes it suitable for all different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress offers proper body support and is a great selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. New Puffy Mattress
