Construction New Puffy Mattress Set Up
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It has a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a fast response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials has been especially selected to bring targeted relief to the spine. New Puffy Mattress Set Up
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. An absence of any sort of transition foam implies that you are very likely to interact mainly with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer feel, you might want to check out the Puffy Lux, which comes with an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots might be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I am not too surprised by this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses which provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize another movement you’re most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite intriguing motion transfer results. You’ll see a slight spike in initial movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the evening.
When purchasing a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you’re likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that’ll make it a bit tricky to change positions. New Puffy Mattress Set Up
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and make a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body roughly three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s good to note that you need to make the most of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs several weeks to even months to completely adjust. If for any reason you reach the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the typical warranty for the mattress industry is. This guarantee shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the company will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses conduction and convection to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that increases the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that will not allow you to sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. New Puffy Mattress Set Up
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anybody in search of a gentle, calming structure.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress New Puffy Mattress Set Up
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that want to receive all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. It has a very suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one is going to remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide decent pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation which makes it appropriate for all different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress offers proper body support and is a fantastic choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. New Puffy Mattress Set Up
