Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. New Helix
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. New Helix

Construction New Helix
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). New Helix
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem right, you may always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. New Helix
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. New Helix
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
