Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Nectar Sleep Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Nectar Sleep Helix

Construction Nectar Sleep Helix
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Nectar Sleep Helix
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Nectar Sleep Helix
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Nectar Sleep Helix
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
