Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Natuzzi Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Natuzzi Helix

Construction Natuzzi Helix
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Natuzzi Helix
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Natuzzi Helix
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Natuzzi Helix
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
