Construction Mattress Soft To Firm
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It features a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.
Mattress Soft To Firm
Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which provides airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re very likely to sink in deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has managed to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things cool and nice as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a fast response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials was especially selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Mattress Soft To Firm
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. An absence of any sort of transition foam means that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you would like an even softer texture, you may want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which has an additional layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the chart where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, together with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to a fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not too surprised with this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses which offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer mattresses that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.
To demonstrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize another movement you’re most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer outcomes. You’ll see a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are unlikely to be too bothered by your partner’s turning and tossing in the night.
While purchasing a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
What this tells me is that you are likely to sink deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit tricky to change positions. Mattress Soft To Firm
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The dense base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body roughly 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is good to note that you should take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to fully adjust. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it’s not a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This warranty shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this can be a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Keep in mind that it could take a few hours for your mattress to expand completely after being in the box for some time.
Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses conduction and convection to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and also help keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this allows for your mattress to maintain an perfect temperature while sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Mattress Soft To Firm
And finally, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anyone in search of a gentle, calming mattress.
While the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it pushes their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for those in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Mattress Soft To Firm
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who want to get all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a rather suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the look. The side panels are a dark grey durable cloth that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one is going to stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation that makes it suitable for all different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers as the thick relaxation layer works to relieve strain in the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Mattress Soft To Firm
