Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Mattress Pad For Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Mattress Pad For Helix Mattress

Construction Mattress Pad For Helix Mattress

All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Mattress Pad For Helix Mattress

Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.

Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem quite right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Mattress Pad For Helix Mattress

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Mattress Pad For Helix Mattress

Helix Warranty

Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
