Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Mattress Like Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Mattress Like Helix

Construction Mattress Like Helix
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Mattress Like Helix
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Mattress Like Helix
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Mattress Like Helix
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
