Construction Mattress Firm Soft Scale
The Puffy is essentially a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a straight forward design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Outstanding support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds such as this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is very thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. Although memory foam has a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has been able to mitigate this with a gel infusion intended to keep things cool and nice while you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a fast response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials was especially selected to bring targeted relief to the spine. Mattress Firm Soft Scale
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam coating having a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any sort of transition foam means that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you’re most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you might want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when purchasing a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots might be, I placed a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed a few pressure relief. I’m not too surprised with this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – While the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. HereI could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Next up, let us take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize another movement you are most likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll notice a small spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is great at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you are unlikely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
When buying a new mattress}, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you are likely to sink deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit tricky to change positions. Mattress Firm Soft Scale
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel secure and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam paired with the supportive memory foam should create a very durable perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you’re able to feel a consistent feel across the entire surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about three months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It’s a good idea to note that you should take advantage of really testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you buy a new mattress your body needs a few weeks to months to completely adapt. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will easily work together with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress business is. This guarantee shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Keep in mind that it might take a couple of hours for your mattress to expand fully after being in the box for some time.
Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress incorporates cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam that uses convection and conduction to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is compact and supportive to make a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate tension at the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so could be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Mattress Firm Soft Scale
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore could do wonders for anybody seeking a gentle, calming structure.
Though the memory foam is a big selling point of this mattress, it does make things a little uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which might be a detractor for those needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Mattress Firm Soft Scale
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those who want to get all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover which can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits nicely to the mattress. It has a rather suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the look. The side panels are a dark gray durable cloth that compliment the mattress as well. Unlike the traditional foam mattresses, this one is going to stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will provide decent pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and includes motion isolation that makes it suitable for many different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick relaxation layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great choice for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Mattress Firm Soft Scale
