Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Julius ZöLlner Helix
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Julius ZöLlner Helix

Construction Julius ZöLlner Helix
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Julius ZöLlner Helix
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models sound right, you may always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Julius ZöLlner Helix
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Julius ZöLlner Helix
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Julius ZöLlner Helix

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide choices whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should provide great edge support and motion transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
