Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helixs
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helixs

All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helixs
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helixs
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helixs
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
