Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helixs Brands
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helixs Brands

Construction Helixs Brands
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helixs Brands
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options sound right, you can always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helixs Brands
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helixs Brands
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
