Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Yacht
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Yacht

Construction Helix Yacht
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Yacht
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Yacht
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Yacht
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
