Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Where
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Where

Construction Helix Where
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Where
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you may always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Where
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Where
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
