Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Weight
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Weight

Construction Helix Weight
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Weight
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Weight
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Weight
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
