Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

Construction Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you can always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Vs Saatva Mattresses

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
