Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Vs Nest Bedding
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Vs Nest Bedding

Construction Helix Vs Nest Bedding
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Vs Nest Bedding
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel quite right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Vs Nest Bedding
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Vs Nest Bedding
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
